The Importance of Being Silent

Old Vic Theatre, London, England. (Camera: Zeiss Ikon Continamatic III; Film: Kodak Gold 400)

Quietness is an underappreciated quality in a camera. This is a photo I would have never attempted with an SLR and its noisy reflex mirror.Thankfully, on this visit to the U.K., I had my trusty Zeiss Ikon Continamatic III. It’s equipped with  a discretely quiet Prontor focal-plane shutter. As a result, I was able to get this shot unobtrusively during the Old Vic’s production of the Oscar Wilde classic, The importance of Being Earnest.
