Half-Frame Cow

(Camera: Olympus Pen-D; Film: Kodak T-Max 100)

Inspired by the announcement of a new, plastic “Kodak” Ektar H35 half-frame camera this week, I loaded some film into my Olympus Pen for the first time in ages. And I dug this photo out from the archives. It was shot with my other half-frame Olympus, the Pen-D.

In my review of the original Pen, I made the point that with today’s very fine-grain films and the low-res, on-line world most photos appear in, the half-frame concept has probably never been more viable. Considering that the format effectively cuts your cost/shot in half, that’s pretty compelling. Is this new plastic H35 camera any good? I have no idea. But it’s not the craziest thing to come along recently.
