Wide-angle Point-and-Shoot Showdown
Without planning to, I’ve accumulated a small collection of point-and-shoot zoom cameras with wide angle capabilities. There’s a good reason for that. These are the Swiss Army knife of the photographic world. And while the spoon or fork found on a multi-tool, isn’t the best spoon or fork ever, in a pinch they’re better than nothing. Garabaldi Moon
I’m pretty sure this isn’t Mount Garabaldi, but what is it? Mamquam Mountain perhaps? If anyone can identify it, leave a comment below. All I remember (and I must try to make better notes in future) is that I shot it off the Sea to Sky Highway from a location probably north of Squamish.

Favourite Cameras: Olympus Stylus Zoom 80 Wide DLX
I was all set to write a quick review after running a roll through the Olympus Stylus Zoom 80 Wide DLX. The review I wrote in my head was simply, I didn’t like using this camera. Everything that makes the legendary Olympus Stylus Epic such a joy to shoot with, is missing with its zoom-lensed big brother. Where the Stylus Epic is small, light and quick, the Stylus Zoom 80 is chunky, heavy and slow. So, is that the entire review? Not quite. Continue reading

Favourite Cameras: Kuribayashi Karoron
The Kuribayashi Karoron is a bit of a mystery camera. I first heard about the brand because of my dad. While serving in the Korean war, he spent a little time in Tokyo, where he purchased a Karoron. Much later, that camera found its way into my collection and once I got it working again, it delivered some very pleasing results. Continue reading
