Following on from my discussion here of Victoria tourism slogans, this “Point of Interest” sign is the only remaining old-style sign I’m aware of still in existence. Nice that they’ve at least kept this one.

Soon to be no more, the down town Greyhound and Pacific Coach Lines bus depot. I for one will miss all its kitschy splendour it when it’s gone. The seagull was once a popular icon for Victoria and often appeared on tourist signs and posters, often accompanied with the enticing slogan “follow the birds to Victoria, British Columbia.” Ah, simpler times.
It’s that time again. Time to look back and reflect on another year of photography. As always, picking 10 favourites is almost an exercise in random. Looking over my 2014 postings, these are the ones that jumped out at me when I sat down to choose. Tomorrow? Who knows. Continue reading
It seems like there are 118,287 different Pentax point-and-shoot cameras bearing the Espio name. Okay, that’s a slight a exaggeration, but there are at least 46. Most are completely unremarkable, but there are a few exceptions, including the Espio Mini and Espio 115G I reviewed previously. Which is the best Espio of all? I’d argue that the crowning glory of the entire line is the Espio 120SW. It is, in a word, fantastic. Continue reading
