Abandoned Botanic Rail Station

Glasgow, Scotland.
(Camera: Hogla 120GCFN; Film: Kentmere Pan 400)

The station was part of the Glasgow Central Railway system and opened in 1896. It saw its last passengers in 1939. The towering spire in the background is Òran Mór, whose construction began in 1862. Originally founded as the Kelvinside Free Church, it’s now a place to go for “a play, a pie, and a pint.”

  1. Impressive indeed.
I knew Glasgow in the Nineties thanks to friends of mine living there.
Most interesting picture : Thanks, Gary.

It’s an interesting place with lots of contrasts. I really liked the Botanic Gardens and the Kibble Palace. That John Kibble seems to have been a fascinating (and eccentric) character.
